First4magnets are proud to have supported three teams of budding robotics engineers and programmers from University of Southampton in their quest for supremacy at the Eurobot UK final, hosted by Middlesex University on Thursday, 21 April, 2016.
This year’s theme was ‘Beach Bots’ and the fierce competition saw each team and their autonomous robot go head-to-head with 30 other teams in a series of beach-themed agility and technical skill-based tasks including magnetically retrieving ferrous fish, hoisting flags and building sandcastles.
Each team sponsored by first4magnets donned t-shirts and proudly displayed the first4magnets brand on their robots as they competed.
In attendance, Managing Director of first4magnets Matthew Ellis said: “First4magnets have a proud history of supporting students and we’ve been delighted to be able to help the three groups of extremely talented young people in the build and development of their robots.
“It was inspiring to see what the students had created and of course, how they had incorporated the magnets first4magnets supplied them with within their robots.”
Created in 1998, Eurobot is an annual international amateur robotics competition open to students and robotics clubs and societies. Each country hosts their own final at which teams compete for the honour to represent their country at the world final, held later this year in France.
