A real milestone tenth year for Magnet Expert Ltd was marked in style, with members of the team partaking in a skydive to raise money for Nottingham Children’s Hospital. We have always looked for imaginative ways to fund raise and make a real difference to charities in the local areas, and the skydive has to be our most daring and creative yet! On to top it off, we raised an amazing £3,000!
A big thank you to everyone at Skydive Langar, who put the jumpers at ease and to all the friends and family that came to support and make it such a memorable day for all involved.

A great way to celebrate 10 years in business was marked by this fantastic occasion, but to raise money for such an amazing cause was what spurred the team on to complete such a daring feat. Falling from 13,500ft was a daunting task for the jumpers, but knowing the difference that the fundraising would make, definitely calmed the nerves and gave the team the determination to complete the jumps.
Visit To Nottingham Children’s Hospital
After the dive, the team were kindly invited to visit Nottingham Children’s Hospital and get first hand experience of the hard work from the doctors and nurses that keep the ward running, and make the experience for those staying a more bearable stay. The visit really brought home just how hard these members of staff work. Staff care for over 1,000 babies and young children from across the region every week, and just over 60,000 every year.
Marianne Burchell, Corporate Partnerships Officer speaking on behalf of Nottingham University Hospital Charity expressed her praise:
“We are thrilled that the team from Magnet Expert chose to support the Big Appeal to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their company. We’d like to thank the brave team members for completing their skydives and raising a fantastic amount of money, all in support young patients of Nottingham Children’s Hospital. The incredible fundraising efforts will be used to support the Big iMRI appeal to fund a state-of-the-art intra-operative MRI (iMRI) machine to help surgeons deliver the very best care during children’s brain tumour operations.”
The visit involved a tour of the Outpatient’s area and chatting with the nurses and workers on the ward. Looking around the ward, it was clear to see the effort that goes into making the stay for the children and their parents are more bearable one under the circumstances.
It was also great to see our donated FerroFlex® sheets and Magnetic Letters installed within the ward!
The tour was followed by a cheque presentation, displaying the £3,000 raised by the team through our GoFundMe page, in-house fundraising, and all of your wonderful donations:
Managing Director Matthew Ellis-Mather expressed his thoughts on the fundraiser:
“After hearing about the Big Appeal for Nottingham Children’s Hospital, and the aims to improve diagnosis, treatment and comfort of patients and their families, we knew instantly that we wanted to get involved and do our part. The bravery of our team doing a skydive made us think about the bravery of patients and their families in times of anxiety and stress and so I am incredibly proud of our team in making visits to hospital a little more comfortable through our contribution. We would like to extend our best wishes to patients, their families and the incredible team at Nottingham Children’s Hospital.”
We are thrilled to have raised £3,000, which will go directly towards the Big iMRI Appeal to fund a state-of-the-art intra-operative MRI (iMRI) machine which will allow surgeons to deliver the best possible care for children with brain tumours.
So from those who jumped and from the whole team here at Magnet Expert Ltd, we want to say a huge thank you to our generous families, friends and customers – without your kind donations, none of this would have been possible.
Here’s to the next fundraising activity….
