Using Magnets To Repair A Classic Car

Owning a car comes with all the joys of being able to get from A to B with ease, however it’s not always plain sailing and repairing a car can be even more expensive then owning one at times.

But can magnets help when it comes to repairing or restoring your car? Well yes, they can!

Gavin, a FIRST4MAGNETS customer, recently got in touch and showed us exactly how our magnets are currently being used on his classic car!

With a pack of magnets costing just £5.15 Gavin has been able to make working on his classic car quicker and easier.

Using his Neodymium magnets Gavin was able to fish out the wheel bearing spacer ring, which is located deep inside the wheel hub. This is usually inaccessible without stripping down the entire hub assembly, but with the use of magnets, this has prevented this and saved time and money!

Gavin used a pack of 10 of our 3 x 3 x 20mm thick N42 Neodymium Magnets.

These high-performance, small rectangular neodymium bar magnets are axially magnetised between the two 3mm x 3mm square faces and provide a maximum pull of 0.49kg.

What’s more, every Neodymium magnet has a triple coating of nickel, copper and nickel again to prevent against corrosion.
