How Do Stage Designers Use Magnets

It goes without saying that stage designers need to use fixing methods that are not only quick to put up and attach, but also very quick to take down for the next stage setup or design.

We are now receiving high volume of calls from stage designers wanting to incorporate magnets into their stage props, back-drops and even costumes to make the transition to the next scene much faster and easier for those involved.

When your next at a stage show, have a look across the stage and we are sure many of the props will use magnets to hold them up. Here is a list of possible items; Wall Pictures and Photographs Scene Canvas / Back Drop Wall Shelves Cabinets Costumes (back of dresses and suits for quick removal) Lighting (off and on stage lights)

Want to know a little secret? – Those quick costume change acts find neodymium magnets very useful!

  1. Hello!

I’ve been curious about the application of magnets in stage design for fastening objects for visual project mapping. I would like to have them laser cut, and fastenable, without movement during loud music and bass vibrations. Does your company do laser cut designs in magnets? Or know of a company to recommend for this? I’d eventually like to get a rough estimate on what this would cost.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Annie,

Thank you for contacting first4magnets. I presume you are looking flexible magnets that are laser cut? I’m afraid we don’t do laser cutting but we do stock a range of magnetic sheet and tapes. However, because we are UK based we can’t ship to the USA. If you have a UK/European address for shipping and we can help further then please feel free to contact us at sales@first4magnets.com or 01777 874520.

      Thanks again,
      Matt
