High Performance Magnetic Recovery

We receive a high volume of emails from our customers both sharing and seeking advice for their magnet applications. Magnetic recovery is a very popular area of interest and requires a variety of different magnets across a huge range of different applications.

First4magnets.com recently received a request for help from Hugh in Ireland. Hugh is a water well driller and while drilling a 250mm diameter water well in hard limestone rock lost the end of his drill bit shaft

The expensive drill bit was lost at a depth of 125ft and Hugh was left unable to retrieve it. The end of the drill was hard steel with carbide inserts in it. While left stuck in the well drilling could no longer continue. First4magnets suggested and built a custom magnet specifically for Hugh’s needs. The custom designed magnet was delivered to Hugh and then lowered into the well. The drill bit was instantly attracted to the magnet and retrieved from the well.

Using a high powered magnet for retrieval saved Hugh time and money and provided him with a recovery magnet for the future.
