Sunday marked a special day for the company and our Managing Director Matthew Ellis-Mather, who celebrated 10 years at Magnet Expert Ltd & FIRST4MAGNETS. In this time, Matthew has been instrumental in bringing success and growth to become the leading supplier of magnetic assemblies in the UK and across Europe.
Matthew joined FIRST4MAGNETS® as a Customer Service Manager. From this point, Matthew became a technical apprentice of Ian Asquith, former Managing Director, this allowed him to progress through the various roles of the company. With this knowledge and experience of all aspects of the business, Matthew negotiated a multi-million-pound buyout of the company in 2016 and formed the Ellis Mather Group, at the age of just 25. His story is proof that people can achieve unprecedented levels of success through hard work, determination and grit.
On from Matthew’s inspiring story and work ethic, it has been a real passion and desire for him to give back to the local community, where, with the help of his team, the company has participated in a number of fundraisers and charity donations; from working with DIY SOS and donations to Lincolnshire & Nottingham Air Ambulance, to a charity skydive for Nottingham Children’s Hospital to name a few. He is currently in talks with Newark and Sherwood District Council and organisations such as YMCA as to how we can inspire young business leaders. This further illustrates the same level of determination and passion he displays in the workplace, and goes to show why Matthew has, and continues to be, so inspirational to his employees and the community.
It is Matthew’s entrepreneurial spirit that has brought success to the company, and this certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed. In March, Matthew was awarded the FSB East Midlands Young Entrepreneur of the Year. This award celebrates inspirational young entrepreneurs and how they have inspired those around them.
Matthew spoke on his recent celebration: “I hope my story will encourage and inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs and demonstrate to them that you can achieve absolutely anything. If you have complete determination and self-belief there is nothing stopping you. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the team for their continued dedication to the company over the years. Here’s to the next 10 years!”
